East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project To Conduct Mosquito Spraying in Framingham

FRAMINGHAM - The East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project is scheduled to conduct mosquito spraying in Framingham on the evening of Monday, June 16, 2025, using a truck-mounted aerosol sprayer. Spraying will take place between sunset and 11:30 PM to reduce mosquito populations and help protect the community from mosquito-borne diseases.

Spray Route and Areas Affected
Spraying will occur in areas of Framingham located south of Waverly Street, near Fay Road, Bethany Road, Winthrop Street, Hollis Street, Irving Street, and Bates Road. Additional areas that will be treated include Hickory Hill Lane and Jodie Road. While these roads are listed, the spray route will cover a wider area within the affected zone.

In the event of inclement weather, the spraying will be rescheduled to the following week.

About Zenivex E4
The product being used for mosquito control is Zenivex E4 (EPA Reg No. 2724-807), which will be applied at a rate of 1 oz per acre. Zenivex E4 is a non-ester pyrethroid insecticide that is classified by the EPA as a reduced-risk pesticide. Its low toxicity and the minimal amount applied ensure that it poses little to no risk to humans, pets, or the environment.

While the product is considered safe when used as directed, residents are advised to minimize exposure. If a spray truck is approaching, it is recommended that residents go indoors for a few minutes until the spray dissipates and that windows be closed during the application.

Because spraying begins after sunset, beekeepers need not take additional precautions, as bees are not active at this time. Furthermore, Zenivex E4 biodegrades quickly and does not accumulate in the environment.

For questions regarding mosquito control or the spray schedule, residents can contact the East Middlesex Mosquito Control Project at 781-899-5730. The latest spraying updates are available on the Project’s website at http://sudbury.ma.us/emmcp/.
