Framingham High Wrestling Team To Host Braintree High at the Memorial Building Wednesday Night

FRAMINGHAM - For the first time this century, and perhaps the first-time ever, the Framingham High wrestling team will compete at the Memorial Building, an almost century old building.

The public is invited to attend the match of the co-ed Framingham High wrestling team on Wednesday, January 29 at 7 p.m. in Nevins Hall at the Memorial Building against Bay State Conference rival Braintree High.

"I am thrilled about the partnership between my administration and the Framingham Public Schools," said Mayor Charlie Sisitsky. "This upcoming competition between Framingham High and Braintree High will highlight the athletic abilities of the Flyers, and showcase historic Nevins Hall.”

The match is a one of several 325th anniversary celebration events planned in 2025. The City of Framingham will mark its 325th anniversary in 2025. The 325th Committee's mandate is to showcase the community's artistic, athletic, cultural, and diverse attributes. The Committee is co-chaired by Anna Tucker and Susan Scully Petroni.

“We are very excited to have a match for this storied program in this historical building. Wrestling has added many women to their program and we are excited to highlight all of the hard-working talented athletes in our program,” said Framingham High Athletic Director Paul Spear.

“This is such an awesome event for our team to experience. Wrestling doesn’t get the Friday night lights or the general popularity a lot of other sports get, so for Paul Spear and his , along with everyone in the Mayor’s office to make this event turn from an idea into a reality is amazing, and we are excited to have the chance to showcase our talented team,” said Framingham High wrestling coach Erik Delehanty.

“I hope high school wrestling will become an annual event at Nevins Hall,” said Mayor Sisitsky. “Perhaps next year, it can be rival Natick High.”

The January 29th match starts at 7 p.m. Admission is free.

“We will be recognizing our seniors the same night, and it’s really special for them to have their last home match be this marquee matchup,” said Coach Delehanty.

Captains for the Flyers are Dan Sullivan, Kizen Semprum, Diego Rivera, Jaymie Last, and Leah Condriet.

The Flyers currently have a record of 10-3.
