City Accepting Applicants for the 5-Member Cable Advisory Committee
FRAMINGHAM - The City of Framingham is seeking multiple applicants for the 5-member Framingham Cable Advisory Committee.
Appointed by the City of Framingham Mayor, the Committee is responsible for negotiating franchise agreements with the City’s three cable television operators, RCN, Comcast, and Verizon, and to ensure that the provisions of those contracts are implemented.
The Cable Advisory Committee also acts as an ombudsman for Framingham residents on unresolved cable TV billing errors and persistent repair problems.
Per federal and state regulations, the Cable Advisory Committee has jurisdiction only over cable TV services. The Committee does not have the authority to intercede on problems involving Internet access, voice telephone service, or satellite TV.
The Committee acts as a liaison between cable TV subscribers and their cable TV companies, and provides feedback, and acts in an advisory capacity to the Mayor for issues that may require the direct intervention of the city administration.
