Cyanobacteria Detected at Lake Waushakum

 

 FRAMINGHAM – Cyanobacteria has been detected at Lake Waushakum.in Framingham.

This means the water is unsafe for people and pets. 

 Individuals are advised: 

  1.  
  2. • Do not swim. 
  3. • Do not swallow the water. 
  4. • Keep animals away from the water 
  5. • Rinse off after contact with water.

 

Ingestion of the infected water causes the most harm. 

 Ingesting small amounts of cyanobacteria or toxin can cause gastrointestinal symptoms. Ingesting large amounts of toxins may cause liver or neurological damage. 

 Contact with cyanobacteria can cause skin or eye irritation.
