City Advertising For Business Owner To Volunteer To Serve on Strategic Initiatives and Financial Oversight Committee

 

 

 

FRAMINGHAM - City of Framingham Mayor is advertising for volunteers for the Strategic Initiatives & Financial Oversight Committee (SIFOC).  

 The 9-member Committee, appointed by the Mayor, the City Council, and the School Committee, is mandated by the City Charter.   

 The Committee advises the Mayor, Council, and School Committee on the status of Framingham’s long-range strategic plan, the state of the municipal economy, sufficiency of municipal revenues, and “other financial matters that may from time to time be referred to it by the Mayor, Council or School Committee.  

 Mayor Sisitsky has three appointees to the Committee.   The Mayor is advertising for a volunteer for the local business seat for a 3-year term ending June 30, 2027.

 The deadline for the local business seat is Saturday, July 20, 2024

 The Mayor’s appointment does not have to be confirmed by the City Council.

 SIFOC members must be Framingham residents and shall not hold any other elected or appointed office in the municipality and shall not receive any compensation.

 Each appointing authority selects one member with expertise in finance, one member who is a member of the local business community, and one at-large member. 

 SIFOC is responsible to submitting an annual report to the Mayor, the City Council and the School Committee.

 The Mayor appoints the chair of the Committee.  The current chair is Mary Kate Feeney.  She was appointed by the City Council to fill the local business seat.  Her term is through June 30, 2024.
