[ARCHIVED] Mayor Spicer elected President of the International Technology Engineering Education Association

FRAMINGHAM, MA – Mayor Yvonne M. Spicer will be sworn in as this year’s President of the International Technology Engineering Education Association (ITEEA) at its annual conference in Atlanta, Georgia (April 10-14, 2018). Dr. Spicer, DTE (Distinguished Technology Educator) is the first African-American woman to be elected President of the ITEEA in its 80 year history.

The ITEEA conference brings together world-wide leaders in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), representing the business community, pre-K-12 education and higher education institutions. The theme of the conference is “Building Bridges within the STEM Community and Beyond.”

Dr. Spicer supports and acknowledges the importance of the role of STEM education in all areas of our lives. She is honored to accept the role of President of ITEEA.

“As Framingham Public Schools move forward with a focus on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math) education, and as we attract innovative businesses to our community, these relationships and partnerships which I have already established and will continue to cultivate within this organization will be an asset for Framingham,” said Mayor Yvonne M. Spicer, ex officio member of the Framingham School Committee.
