City Council Chair Dennis Giombetti Announces Assignments to Framingham City Council Subcommittees
Framingham, MA - The Framingham City Council continues to organize as they prepare to take office on January 1st. The City Charter allows the new city council to conduct business prior to January 1st in three areas: 1) to organize 2) to establish temporary rules and 3) to review Mayor elect Spicer's recommendation for License Commissioners.
At their first meeting in November the City Council elected Dennis Giombetti as Council Chair and Charles Sisitsky as Council Vice Chair. At the City Council second meeting held last week temporary rules were adopted which, along with several provisions, called for 7 subcommittees to be established.
Council Chair Giombetti announced today his appointments to the seven subcommittees. Council Chair Giombetti said "The new council has been working very hard so that we are well prepared to take office on January 1st. Having our subcommittees in place is an important step in the transition to our new city government. This will allow the city council as a co-equal branch of our city government to handle matters that come before the council in a timely and efficient manner from day one."
Giombetti further added that "assignments were based on several factors such as councilor's subcommittee preference, councilor's experience, gender, geographic, workload balance and making sure new voices had significant roles."
