Volunteers needed to decorate Veteran’s Grave with flags in preparations for Memorial Day.

Each year the Framingham Veterans Services mark the graves of US Veterans with an American Flag. This year 5,000 flags will be placed in Framingham’s cemeteries by volunteers. On Saturday, May 14th at 9:00 volunteers are needed to help place 2,800 flags in Edgell Grove Cemetery. Edgell Grove is a Historical Landmark because of its unique design. As a result of the design we need a lot of youth with enthusiasm to tackle this large Cemetery.

Please come and join us as we salute our departed veterans this Memorial Day, 2016.

May 21th is the rain date. If you are interested volunteering please join us at Edgell Grove. If you have questions please call Framingham Veteran Service 508-532-5515.

We try very hard to get each veteran a flag. In the event we missed someone this year please go to the Cemetery Superintendent of that cemetery and just ask for one. We left extra flags with each Superintendent’s office or come to the Veterans Service Office Room, B-11, in the Memorial Building and we will provide you with a flag.

Flags are placed on the left side (flag’s own right) of the front of the plot’s headstone. This is done to allow cemetery personnel to mow and maintain the cemetery with minimal interference. Many times veterans are buried in family plots in the rear of the headstone. So please check the front of the headstone before getting a new flag.

For more information or questions please call the Veteran’s Officer at 508-532-5515.
