DPW Announces Drainage Improvements To Begin on Henry Street Extension
FRAMINGHAM - The City of Framingham Department of Public Works (DPW) announces that Newport Construction will begin drainage work on Henry Street Extension on Monday, October 13, 2025.
The project will extend through the intersection of Franklin Street and continue down Henry Street toward Union Avenue.
Work in the intersection at Franklin Street is expected to take place on Wednesday and Thursday of that week.
As part of the project, crews will upsize the existing drainage pipe and install new drainage structures to improve stormwater management in the area. The work is anticipated to last a couple of weeks, weather permitting.
Henry Street will be closed during construction, and detours will be in place via Beech Street and Pearl Street.
Local access will be maintained where possible, but some areas may be impassable at times. Police and fire services will be updated daily, and DPW will coordinate with school bus transportation and residents to ensure continued access.
While most of the work will take place on Henry Street, there may be a brief lane shift on Union Avenue near the end of the project.
The DPW appreciates residents’ patience and cooperation during this necessary infrastructure improvement.
The project is part of a larger effort to upgrade drainage and roadway systems in the area.
In Spring 2026, additional work will include new sidewalks and road reconstruction along Henry Street.
A Phase 1 detour map is available below.
