City of Framingham to Conduct Tree Pruning To Enhance Public Safety and Tree Health

FRAMINGHAM - The City of Framingham, under the direction of Tree Warden Rebecca Nau, will begin a scheduled tree and shrub pruning program in neighborhoods across the city over the next several weeks.

Pruning work will occur Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. and is part of the City’s ongoing commitment to public safety and urban forest management.

Work in Zone 4 will begin Monday, May 12, 2025.

The pruning operations will focus on trees and shrubs that extend into the City’s right-of-way. This work helps ensure clear visibility for street signs and lighting, unobstructed access to fire hydrants and sidewalks, and safer passage for vehicles and pedestrians. Removing hazardous limbs also reduces the risk posed by dead, damaged, or structurally unsound trees.

Trees identified as decayed, insect-infested, or structurally compromised may be removed to maintain community safety. All pruning will follow industry-standard techniques to preserve tree health and structure. The work will be carried out and/or supervised by certified arborists to ensure high-quality care.

All debris generated during the pruning process will be collected and removed by the City.
