[ARCHIVED] City-Wide Leak Detection Survey Begins April 6

City-Wide Leak Detection Survey Begins April 6

FRAMINGHAM - Starting on the night of Sunday, April 6, Steve Miles will begin his annual city-wide leak detection survey. As part of this important process, Steve will be using two clearly labeled vehicles, which are shown in the attached pictures, in case anyone receives any inquiries.

During the survey, Steve listens on fire hydrants and valves to detect any leaks that may not be visible on the surface throughout the water distribution system. This survey is required by both the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) and the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).

To minimize disruption, Steve typically works during the nighttime hours when traffic noise is at its quietest. The survey is expected to take approximately 6 weeks. When working on high-traffic roads, such as Route 9, a police detail will be present to assist with safety and traffic control.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this essential work to maintain our city's water system.
