City of Framingham To Remove Planters In Response to Business Community Feedback
FRAMINGHAM –In response to feedback from the downtown business community and the Framingham Police community impact unit, the City of Framingham Public Works Division will be removing the downtown planters at the intersection of Hollis and Irving Streets.
The City of Framingham will be working overnight to revitalize the downtown planters in response to feedback from the downtown business community. The project will lower the planter sides to be flush to grade as part of ongoing efforts to ensure our public spaces remain accessible, clean, and welcoming for everyone.
In partnership with the City’s Tree Warden, the planters will be redesigned with flowering plants and grasses, creating a more vibrant atmosphere for the downtown area
Work will begin at 10 p.m. on Tuesday, March 25, and will continue until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, March 26. Police details have been scheduled to ensure safety during the overnight operation.
The following steps will be taken:
- Removal of dirt using a vactor truck
- Disassembly of the bolts securing the planters
- Removal of the planters
- Loaming and mulching the area
The project will take a couple of nights.
Once the initial work is complete, the City will assess the area and meet to discuss further design possibilities, such as incorporating borders, additional plantings, trees, and stamped asphalt to enhance the overall look and feel of the space.
