City Advertising For 2 Openings on 5-Member Framingham Housing Authority

FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham is advertising for two individuals to serve on the Framingham Housing Authority. One of the two seats is for a resident in a Framingham Housing Authority property.

For transparency, the City is advertising the seats, but incumbents are encouraged to apply.

The Framingham Housing Authority Commission, comprised of five members, convenes monthly to oversee the Authority’s management of public housing: modernization/preventative maintenance, state and federal finance, section 8 voucher program, and family housing.

The City of Framingham Mayor appoints four members and one member is appointed by the Governor of the Commonwealth. Terms are for 5 years.

Interested individual should fill out the application at this link: Form Center • Boards, Committees, Commission, Officers Appli (framinghamma.gov)

The deadline to apply is Friday, November 15 at 11:59 p.m.

The Mayor needs to appoint one at-large member and one member, who is a resident in a Framingham Authority property.

The at-large member seat is through 2029.

The resident member seat is through June 30, 2028.

The Mayor’s nominees will need to then go before the City Council appointment subcommittee, and then the full City Council for review.

The Housing Authority can act only through the Board of Commissioners as a body, they are responsible for hiring, evaluating, and if necessary discharging of Executive Director, making policy required by law, monitoring the performance of the agency, approving the budget, five-year and annual plan, seeking community support and partnerships for agency initiatives, approving modernization plans, contracts, grant applications, ethics and more.
