City of Framingham Inauguration on Thursday, January 1, 2026
FRAMINGHAM - The City of Framingham will hold its 2026 Inauguration Ceremony on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at 10 a.m. at Nevins Hall. The ceremony will celebrate the swearing-in of Mayor Charlie Sisitsky, nine District City Councilors, nine School Committee members, six Library Trustees, and three Cemetery Trustees.
Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey and Congresswoman Katherine Clark will be in attendance and will speak prior to the administration of the oaths of office.
Judge Adam Sisitsky, appointed by Governor Healey, will administer the oath of office to his father, Mayor Charlie Sisitsky. City Clerk Lisa Ferguson will administer the oath to the other elected officials.
State Representative Danielle Gregoire will serve as Master of Ceremonies.
The program will include the presentation of colors by the Framingham Police Honor Guard, the Pledge of Allegiance by Framingham State University sophomore Deyanira Cruz, with the National Anthem sung by Emily Ruiz, the daughter of Framingham Deputy Police Chief Jorge Ruiz.
Temple Beth Am Rabbi Sam Blumberg with give the invocation and Framingham firefighter Oscar Alvarez with give the benediction.
The ceremony will also feature a special performance by the Heritage Chorale celebrating its 89th season.

Councilor George P. King Jr. will speak after the oaths of office emphasizing the value of public service and formally introduce Mayor Sisitsky, who will then share his vision for the City over the next four years. Mayor Sisitsky is the first individual to be re-elected Mayor for a second term, since Framingham became a City in 2018.
The inauguration ceremony is expected to last 60–75 minutes. It will be live streamed on the City of Framingham Government Channel.
Following the ceremony, at approximately 11:45 a.m., the City Council will hold its first meeting of the new session in the Deborah Blumer Community Room on the lowest level of the Memorial Building. On the agenda is the election of a Chair and Vice Chair for the Council’s two-year term.
