City of Framingham Now Using OpenGov To Register Your Dog License
FRAMINGHAM - All dogs six months of age and older must be licensed with the City Clerk. Dog licenses are valid for the calendar year, January 1 through December 31. Proof of a current rabies vaccination is required at the time of registration.
Registration Fees
- $15 for dogs that are not spayed or neutered (or without a veterinarian’s certificate)
- $10 for dogs that are spayed or neutered (with a veterinarian’s certificate)
- $5 for a duplicate tag
Register Your Dog Online
The Framingham City Clerk’s Office now uses an online permitting system for dog licensing. To license your dog(s) for 2026, visit:

Steps to register online:
- Select City Clerk
- Select Dog License
- Click Apply Online
- Create an OpenGov account (this account will be used for future renewals)
- Complete all required steps and submit your dog’s information
- The City Clerk’s Office will review your application
- Once approved, you will receive an email notification to submit payment
- After payment is received, a 2026 dog tag will be mailed to you
Important Notes
- You must upload a copy of your dog’s most recent rabies vaccination, regardless of the vaccination’s expiration date.
- If you prefer the City Clerk’s Office to process your registration, please return the 2026 renewal notice mailed in late December 2025 and include your email address. Dogs cannot be licensed for 2026 without an email address on file.
