34th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony & Holiday Block Party on December 5


FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham invites residents and visitors to join the 34th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony & Holiday Block Party on Friday, December 5, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Building Plaza and Union Avenue.

This free community event is a festive way to kick off the holiday season.

“The Tree Lighting Ceremony is a beloved Framingham tradition that brings our community together to celebrate the joy of the season. I encourage everyone, neighbors, families, and friends, to join us for an evening of lights, music, and holiday cheer,” said Mayor Charlie Sisitsky.

A 35-foot Norway spruce tree, donated by Kevin and Cheryl Nelson and William Lytte of Bradford Road, was gifted to the City of Framingham.

The tree will be installed at the Memorial Building Plaza Thanksgiving weekend.

Mistress of ceremonies will be NBC10 news anchor Latoyia Edwards.

Attendees can enjoy a variety of activities, including:

  • A sing-along with the Scouts
  • A story walk and storytime with author Megan Litwin, who will read her story Twinkle, Twinkle, Winter Night
  •  Free books for children, courtesy of the Friends of the Framingham Public Library and the Framingham Public Library
  • Free popcorn, courtesy of the Framingham Public Library, which will also have its bookmobile at the event
  • Santa Claus, hot chocolate, cookies, and live entertainment


Families and friends are encouraged to come celebrate together as the city’s holiday tree is officially lit to mark the season.
