City of Framingham To Dedicate Main Street Bridge to Ginger Esty

FRAMINGHAM –The City of Framingham will dedicate the Main Street Bridge to the late Select Board Member Ginger Esty on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 11 a.m.

The ceremony will honor Esty’s decades of service to the community and her pivotal role in preserving the historic bridge over the Sudbury River. The public is invited to attend.

Mayor Charlie Sisitsky first requested the naming in April 2025 following Esty’s passing in 2024. The Framingham City Council approved the request in May.

Ginger Esty was a tireless public servant, serving on the Framingham Select Board from 2000 to 2013 and earning the nickname “Mayor of Salem End Road” for her dedication to local history and community well-being. She also served on the Board of Public Works and represented Framingham on the Boston Regional Metropolitan Planning Organization.

Esty played a key role in preserving the Main Street Bridge during its 2006–2009 renovation by the Massachusetts Department of Transportation. When plans threatened the bridge’s historic character, Esty led efforts to maintain its original appearance and size, ensuring the replacement structure honored the city’s heritage.

Beyond her work on the bridge, Esty was deeply involved in historic preservation, environmental protection, and regional philanthropy.
