Water & Sewer Infrastructure Work to Begin on Edgell Road June 23
FRAMINGHAM - The City of Framingham will begin water and sewer infrastructure replacement work on Edgell Road starting Monday, June 23, 2025. The project area extends between the tennis courts and the Massachusetts Turnpike overpass.
The work is expected to last approximately eight weeks, with completion anticipated by mid-August.
Due to the narrow roadway and high traffic volumes in this area, this project presents several logistical challenges. To ensure safety and traffic flow, a detour plan will be in effect Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
When sewer work is underway, the location of excavation will be impassable. Temporary water bypass systems will be installed along the road, along with temporary fire hydrants placed near existing hydrant locations or directly across the street.
In preparation for the project, City officials met on-site with Fire Chief Dutcher to develop a comprehensive emergency response plan to ensure continuous fire and EMS access during construction.
Notices have been mailed to residents on Edgell Road between Central Street and Belknap Road, as well as Edgebrook Road. In addition, electronic message boards were placed on-site to notify the public of the project start date and detour details.
With schools out for summer and reduced bus traffic, the City anticipates the timing will help minimize overall impact on the community.
Residents with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact the contact the Department of Public Works Sewer Division at 508-532-6050 or 508-532-6060 0r emailing wastewater@FraminghamMA.gov
