The 25-member Advisory Committee to the Mayor met in June and has a second meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 26.

The Mayor is accepting applications for the arts representative.

The link to apply is Form Center • Boards, Committees, Commission, Officers Appli (framinghamma.gov)

The deadline to apply is Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.

Questions on if you qualify as an arts organization representative can be directed to the City’s Citizen Participation Officer Nicole Horton-Stimpson at nhs@framinghamma.gov

Per the Executive Order that created the Committee, the appointed is made solely by the Mayor, with no legislative review.

Created by an Executive Order in 2023, the goal of the advisory committee is to advise the Mayor on redeveloping the former Marian High School on Union Avenue into a city-wide community center for individuals of all ages.

The former high school has a basketball gymnasium, a 750-seat theatre, and 3 levels of classrooms and other amenities.

The City of Framingham, under the leadership of Mayor Charlie Sisitsky, purchased the former Catholic high school in the fall of 2023.

Presently, the City is in the process of demolition of the former convent on the property. There were 7 bids for the demolition, with the low bidder of American Environmental Inc., coming in under budget at $1.597 million.
