Framingham Public Works To Host Meeting on Saxonville Water & Sewer Project Thursday
FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Public Works Department is holding a meeting on Thursday, May 30 in Saxonville on a planned water & sewer project.
The meeting is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Stapleton Elementary School, located at 25 Elm Street in Framingham.
Framingham Public Works Director Bob Lewis said the main focus of the meeting is to review the water and sewer project, that is scheduled to start in Saxonville Village the week of June 17.
The water & sewer project will start after Framingham Public School students end their year and is expected to last all summer, but to be completed before the 2024-2025 school year begins.
DPW will also give residents an update on the McGrath Square project, which is at the 85% design stage. The project is not scheduled yet for the construction phase.
The Saxonville Intersection Improvement Project will make improvements to the Concord Street corridor and intersections, between Water Street and south to the Sudbury River bridge, including roadway, intersections and sidewalk reconstruction, replacement of traffic signals at three intersections (Water Street at Central Street, Central Street at Concord Street and Elm Street, and Concord Street at Watson Place), installation of street lighting and fiber optic conduits, public off-street parking improvements, and landscaping.
Improvements to this corridor and intersections will enhance vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian safety and traffic flow, reduce queues during peak hours, provide better pedestrian access and
ADA compliance, bicycle connectivity to the Cochituate Rail Trail, and improve the aesthetics of the area, creating a more “village” atmosphere in keeping with the history of McGrath Square. Outmoded traffic signals will be replaced, and uncontrolled curb cut access will be reduced.
After short presentations by DPW employees, residents in the Saxonville neighborhood will have the opportunity to ask questions.
DPW has requested that the Government Channel record the meeting.
