Framingham Firefighters Extinguish Building Fire on Route 135

FRAMINGHAM -  Framingham firefighters extinguished a structure fire at 654 Waverly Street (Route 135) this morning, December 31, 2025

Upon arrival at about 6:30 a.m., fire companies found an active fire in a third-floor bedroom of the residence.

“Crews initiated an aggressive interior attack and were able to quickly knock down the fire, successfully limiting damage to the building,” said Framingham Fire Chief Michael Dutcher.

Several adults and children were displaced as a result of the fire and are currently being assisted by the American Red Cross, said the Framingham Fire Chief.

There were no reported injuries, said Chief Dutcher.

The cause of the fire has been determined to be accidental and electrical in nature, said Chief Dutcher.

“Thanks to the fast response and coordinated efforts of our crews, the fire was contained quickly and prevented from spreading to other areas of the home,” said Framingham Fire Chief Dutcher. “We are grateful that no one was injured and that residents are receiving support during this difficult time.”

Quick notification to the Framingham Fire Department helped limit the damage, said the Fire Chief.
