Callahan Center Presents First-Ever Theatrical Production on December 4

FRAMINGHAM - The Callahan Center is thrilled to announce its first-ever theatrical production, Love, Loss, and What I Wore, written by Nora and Delia Ephron and based on the bestselling book by Ilene Beckerman.

Made possible with support from the Friends of Callahan, this production marks an exciting milestone as the Center debuts performances created by seniors, for seniors, showcasing the creativity and talent within the community.

Love, Loss, and What I Wore is a humorous, heartfelt, and universally relatable play that delves into women’s lives through the clothing and memories that shape them. Through a mix of monologues and ensemble scenes, audiences will hear stories about prom dresses, purse challenges, bra shopping adventures, wedding outfits, and the enduring appeal of wearing black. The production weaves together themes of mothers and mother figures, love and loss, and the journeys of personal growth that connect women across generations.

Adapted for the stage by Nora and Delia Ephron, the show blends comedy with poignant reflection, using clothing as an entry point to honest, emotional storytelling. A dynamic cast of local women brings these narratives to life, portraying multiple roles that celebrate shared experiences and the bonds of womanhood.

This fall, the Callahan Center launched a performing arts initiative designed to provide older adults with opportunities to explore theater in a supportive, collaborative environment. Love, Loss, and What I Wore is the first full-scale production from this new program, underscoring the Center’s dedication to fostering creativity, community connection, and lifelong engagement.

“We are so proud of what this cast has created,” said Callahan Center Program Manager Teri Shea. “This production demonstrates just how vibrant, talented, and inspired our older adult community is. We hope audiences will come ready to laugh, reflect, and celebrate this wonderful achievement with us.”
