Framingham Fire Responds to Dormitory Fire at Framingham State University

FRAMINGHAM - Just before 1 a.m. November 12, 2025, the Framingham Fire Department responded to a box alarm system notification for 16 State Street, Corrinne Towers at Framingham State University.

Upon arrival, crews were met by Framingham State University Police, who reported a fire on the sixth floor of the residence hall. Firefighters proceeded to the sixth floor, where they found the blaze contained by the activation of the building’s sprinkler system. Crews completed extinguishment and worked to ventilate smoke from the building, remaining on scene until approximately 3 a.m.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation, though it appears to be accidental in nature.

Only one student from the affected room was displaced. No injuries were reported.

“This incident highlights the importance of quick notification, a properly functioning sprinkler system, and keeping the door to the fire room closed,” said Fire Chief Michael Dutcher. “These combined factors played a crucial role in preventing further damage and ensuring everyone’s safety.”

The Framingham Fire Department commends Group 4 and the Framingham State University Police Department for their collaborative efforts in quickly controlling the situation and minimizing the impact on students and staff.
