City of Framingham Advertising For Opening on Parks & Recreation Commission

 

FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham is seeking applicants to fill one seat on the Parks and Recreation Commission that expired on June 30, 2025. 

The current member in that seat is not seeking re-appointment.

The deadline to apply is Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.

The Parks and Recreation Commission represents the community and advises on the development, maintenance, and use of Framingham’s parks, open spaces, and recreational programs.

Commissioners play a vital role in promoting active and passive recreation opportunities, supporting community engagement, and guiding long-term planning for the City’s parks and recreation system.

Commission Goals & Responsibilities:

  • Promote the use and benefits of Framingham’s parks and recreation services.
  • Advise the Mayor and Division leadership on public policy and long-range planning.
  • Suggest new recreational programs and improvements for community enjoyment.
  • Perform statutory duties assigned to municipal Parks and Recreation Commissions.
  • Collaborate with the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs Division to support events, programs, and capital projects.

Member Requirements:

  • Must be a resident of the City of Framingham.
  • Serve without compensation.


Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Knowledge of community recreation, youth sports, or cultural programming.
  • Experience with park development, landscape design, or construction.
  • Understanding of Framingham’s active and passive recreation facilities.
  • Budget management, marketing, or community outreach experience.
  • Familiarity with event planning, volunteer coordination, or nonprofit collaboration.
  • Ability to make informed decisions balancing community input and city priorities.

 Kathleen Hauck, Chair, District 3 – June 2027
 Dave Gudejko, Vice Chair, District 1 – June 2026
 Jose Ferreira, Member, District 9 – June 2025
 Tony Tolson, Member, District 3 – June 2028
 Jeanne Bizzoco, Member, District 5 – June 2027

The Commission typically meets on the second Tuesday of each month or as needed.

No resume or cover letter is required to apply for this position.

The Mayor will review applications submitted by the deadline and make nominations to the City Council. The City Council, as the legislative division of City Government, has 30 days to approve or reject the Mayor’s nominations.
