City Advertising For 5 Volunteers for the Cable Advisory Committee

FRAMINGHAM - The City of Framingham is seeking five volunteers to serve on the Framingham Cable Advisory Committee.

The five-member Committee, appointed by Mayor Charlie Sisitsky, is responsible for negotiating franchise agreements with the City’s three cable television operators (RCN, Comcast, and Verizon), and ensuring that the provisions of those contracts are implemented. Satellite television providers are not required to have a license.

The Cable Advisory Committee also acts as an ombudsman for Framingham residents who are unable to resolve cable television billing errors or persistent repair issues directly with their provider.

Under federal and state regulations, the Committee’s jurisdiction is limited to cable television services and does not extend to Internet access, voice telephone service, or satellite TV.

In addition, the Committee serves as a liaison between cable TV subscribers and providers, offers feedback, and advises the Mayor on matters requiring the attention of City administration.

Members with expired terms on the Committee may re-apply.

Terms available are:

  • 2 seats through June 30, 2026
  • 1 seat through June 30 of 2027
