FRAMINGHAM - The City of Framingham is currently accepting applications for vacancies on the Framingham Human Relations Commission.

There are two vacant seats and three seats with terms that expired on June 30, 2025. Incumbents are encouraged to re-apply.

The deadline to apply is October 31, 2025 at 11:59 p.m.

The purpose of the Human Relations Commission is to address the causes of intergroup disunity that contribute to social and urban challenges. The Commission works to:

  • Eliminate conditions of bias, discrimination, and prejudice against minority groups.
  • Establish affirmative action programs.
  • Ensure equal enforcement and protection of the law for all people, regardless of race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, gender identity, age, disability, sexual orientation, genetics, veteran status, or any other protected class under state or federal law.

Commission members serve three-year terms and are expected to:

  • Attend monthly meetings and actively participate in Commission work.
  • Stay informed about community needs and bring those issues to the Commission’s attention.
  • Conduct research on assigned topics.
  • Help plan and host community forums, seminars, and educational events.

The Human Relations Commission meets on the second Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. (except July).

The Commission currently consists of nine members, following a City Council vote in January 2023 to reduce its size from 13. Members come from a variety of backgrounds and represent different perspectives within the community.
