City of Framingham Advertising For Volunteer for 3-Member Board of Assessors

FRAMINGHAM - The City of Framingham is seeking qualified applicants to fill a vacancy on its three-member Board of Assessors.

Former Chair Matt Calder resigned as he is moving out of the City of Framingham.

The position would fill his unexpired term through June 30, 2026.

This is the second time the City has advertised this position.

Members of the Board of Assessors are appointed by the Mayor and subject to confirmation by the City Council. Each member serves a three-year term, and vacancies are filled for the remainder of the unexpired term.

Current Board Members:

  • Vacant –Term expires June 30, 2026
  • Elizabeth Fekete – Vice-Chairperson – Term expires June 2027
  • Kathryn Peirce – Clerk – Term expires June 2028


 The Board of Assessors is responsible for carrying out the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapters 58 to 65C. The Board operates under the jurisdiction of the Massachusetts Commissioner of Revenue, who sets minimum standards for assessment practices.

Before new property assessment values, new growth, and tax rates are finalized each year, they must be certified by the Department of Revenue (DOR). Additionally, every three years, the DOR conducts a comprehensive review of the Board’s assessment methods to ensure compliance with state requirements.


 The Board of Assessors typically meets monthly on Wednesdays at 4 p.m. in Room 101 of the Memorial Building (150 Concord Street).
