City of Framingham Seeks Purple Heart Recipients for Upcoming Ceremony
FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham will host its second annual Purple Heart Ceremony on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at the Memorial Building.
This special event will honor Purple Heart recipients who live in Framingham, as well as Gold Star families of Framingham Purple Heart recipients.
In 2023, Framingham proudly became a Purple Heart City and held its first-ever Purple Heart breakfast and ceremony, recognizing the brave men and women who have been awarded the Purple Heart for their service and sacrifice.
The 9 a.m. ceremony on August 7 will include an 8 a.m. breakfast followed by a formal tribute to these distinguished individuals in Historic Nevins Hall.
If you are a Purple Heart recipient living in Framingham, or a family member of a deceased Purple Heart recipient with ties to Framingham, we encourage you to complete the Purple Heart application form on the City of Framingham’s website by the deadline to be honored at the event.
The Purple Heart is the nation’s oldest military decoration, first established as the Badge of Military Merit by General George Washington on August 7, 1782, in Newburgh, New York. The award was reestablished as the Purple Heart by General Douglas MacArthur on February 22, 1932.
The deadline to submit your information to the Framingham Veterans Department is July 31, 2025.
Form: Form Center • City of Framingham Purple Heart Application
If you were honored in 2023, you cannot be honored in the 2025 ceremony.
