City Advertising For Volunteers for Framingham Conservation Commission

FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham is seeking applicants for the 7-member Conservation Commission.

There are two member seats available, each with a 3-year term. Applicants must be residents of Framingham.

While no formal qualifications are required, preference is given to individuals with demonstrated interest or background in environmental science, ecology, land use planning, boating, wildlife management, agriculture, engineering, resource conservation, or related disciplines. A commitment to protecting wetlands and open space is essential.

The Conservation Commission, working with the Conservation Office, is responsible for reviewing proposed municipal, private, commercial, and industrial projects to ensure they comply with local, state, and federal wetland protection laws. Commissioners help safeguard Framingham’s natural resources by evaluating development plans, issuing permits, and ensuring sustainable land use.

The Commission meets monthly; meetings are typically scheduled in the evenings and may occur in person or via Zoom, depending on state and local guidelines.

Current members may re-apply for re-appointment, but are not guaranteed re-appointment. Women and bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.

A resume and cover letter are required to apply for this position.

The deadline to apply is Thursday, July 25, 2025, at 11:59 p.m.
