City of Framingham Launching OpenGov for Online Permitting July 1


 

 

FRAMINGHAM - The City of Framingham is excited to announce the roll-out of OpenGov, a new online platform that makes it easier for residents, contractors, and businesses to apply for permits, submit forms, pay fees, track requests, and more.

Divisions/Departments moving to OpenGov include Inspectional Services, City Clerk, Licensing, Public Works, Public Health, and Framingham Fire.

The City Solicitor’s office will also be moving OpenGov for marijuana applications.

With OpenGov, residents, businesses, and contractors will enjoy a streamlined and user-friendly experience. By creating a single account, you’ll be able to:

  • Apply for permits and licenses
  • Make secure online payments
  • Track the status of your applications
  • Communicate directly with City staff
  • Schedule inspections
  • Print inspection reports, permits, and licenses
  • Renew licenses online

Eventually, the Planning Board, the Conservation Department, and the Zoning Board of Appeals will be moving its processes online to save you time and hassle.

The City is excited to move from manual processes to this modern municipal government software, which will bring ease to previously tedious and time-consuming tasks.

As part of this transition, several key permits - effective July 1- will now be processed through OpenGov, including building, demolition, electrical, plumbing, shed, signs, etc.

As of July 1, all of the following licenses will now be applied for via OpenGov: Alcohol License, Auto Dealer - Class I, II, III License, Automatic Amusement, Carnival, Common Victualer, Entertainment, Entertainment on Sunday, Hawker/Peddler License, Innholder, Junk Dealers and/or Antiques, Livery License, Lodging House License, One Day Alcoholic and/or Entertainment License, One Day Temporary Amusement, One Day Hawker/Peddler License Application, Taxi Cab Company License, etc.

The City Clerk’s office is moving all dog licenses to OpenGov.

The following health permits and licenses will now be processed via OpenGov: Well Construction/Alteration/Repair Permit, After School/Daycare/Drop-in Program Food Permit Waiver, Body Art Establishment Permit, Body Art Practitioner Permit, Bodywork Establishment Permit, Bodywork Practitioner Permit, Catering Event Notification, Catering Operation Plan Review, Demolition Project Application, Disposal System Installer Permit, Food Establishment Permit, Food Establishment Plan Review, Septic Abandonment, Frozen Dessert License, Keeping of Animals Permit, Marijuana Operating Permit, Mobile Food Establishment Permit, Recreational Camp Permit, Rental Unit Certification, Residential Kitchen Food Operation Permit, Garbage Removal Permit, Septic Disposal System Construction Permit, Septic Plan Review, Septic Transfer Station Permit, Smoke Accessory Permit, Soil/Percolation Testing, Swimming Pool Construction Plan Review, Swimming Pool Permit to Operate, Tanning Facility License, Temporary/Seasonal Event Food Establishment Permit, and Tobacco Product Sales Permit.

The following DPW permits will now be processed via OpenGov:

  • Bulky Item Disposal
  • Street Opening Permit - Utility
  • Trench Opening Permit
  • Contractor License

The following Framingham Fire Department permits will now be processed via OpenGov as of July 1: Above Ground Storage Tank Removal, Ansul System Permit, Black Powder, Blasting Permit, Combustible Goods, Energy Storage System (ESS), Fire Alarm, Flammable Fluids, Hazardous Materials, Liquid Propane Gas (LPG), Mulch Storage, Oil Burner and Above Ground Tank Installation or Alteration, Pyrotechnics - Special Effects, Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detector Certificate (26F), Sprinkler System, Tank Truck, Underground Storage Tank Installation, Underground Storage Tank Removal, Waste Oil, and Welding/Cutting Permit.
