City of Framingham Announces 3 Openings on the South Middlesex Regional School Committee

FRAMINGHAM - The City of Framingham is announcing three openings on the South Middlesex Regional School Committee. These vacancies provide an opportunity for residents to contribute to the future of education within our community. The available positions include one seat with a term through June 30, 2027, and two seats with terms through June 30, 2026.

The South Middlesex Regional School Committee is a critical body responsible for setting the direction and policies that shape the educational experiences and achievements of students in our vocational school system. The Committee’s decisions have long-lasting impacts on the quality and direction of education in our schools, requiring members to adopt a forward-looking perspective, engage in long-range planning, and address immediate challenges.

Members of the Committee are tasked with formulating and adopting policies, selecting an executive officer to implement those policies, and evaluating the outcomes. The Committee is also responsible for the effective management of resources and ensures its processes are transparent, actively seeking input from the public, students, and staff.

Qualifications and Responsibilities:

To apply for a position on the Keefe Tech School Committee representing Framingham, candidates must be residents of Framingham. While experience in education and training is highly desirable, all applicants should possess strong collaborative skills, capable of working effectively in various group settings and engaging with the public. Keefe Technical graduates, especially those in the last decade are encouraged to apply.

The School Committee meets once per month on Mondays at 7 p.m., and members may occasionally be asked to participate in special subcommittees as needed.

Encouraging Diversity and Inclusion:

The City of Framingham strongly encourages women and bilingual candidates to apply, recognizing the importance of diverse perspectives in shaping a comprehensive educational environment. Incumbents are also welcome to re-apply for these positions.

Application Process:

The deadline to apply for these openings is Sunday, September 22, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit their applications promptly to be considered for these important roles.
