City Promotes Health Department Manager To Assistant Director of Callahan Center

FRAMINGHAM – City of Framingham Public Health Department Office Manager Noelia Valdez has been promoted to the Assistant Director of the Callahan Center. She started her new position, yesterday July 1.

She reports to Director of Elder Services Randy Alysworth, who has been Director since 2023.

Valdez has been with the City of Framingham since 2017, when she was hired as the office manager for the City’s Public Health Department.

Her responsibilities as Assistant Director of the Callahan Center include recruiting, managing, and training four part-time receptionists, serving as liaison with MWRTA for the Center’s transportation program, and researching grant opportunities, among other tasks.

“I’m going to take all the things that I learned here and apply it over to the new position,” said Valdez.

The position has been open since Alysworth was promoted to Callahan Center Director in spring of 2023.

“Noelia has interacted with older adults throughout her Framingham career.  She is bilingual (speaking Spanish and English,) which will help serve our Latino older adults.  At the Callahan Center, Noelia will focus on customer service, transportation and operations management,” said Alysworth.

Valdez said she plans “to be as involved as I can with the community”.

Valdez has an Associate Degree in accounting and has more than a decade of experience in the fields of bookkeeping, payroll, and office management.

She is fluent in Spanish and has extensive customer service experience.

She plans to interact with other departments and community organizations in Framingham.

She wants to form a collaboration with the Dia Feliz Adult Day Health Center in the future.

The Raymond J. Callahan Center is a multi-purpose center for Framingham residents age 55 and older.  The Center, located at 535 Union Avenue, is a nurturing environment that hosts fitness classes, educational events, recreational workshops, while fostering social connection for the City’s senior population.
