Framingham Mayor Names 25-Member Community Center Advisory Committee
FRAMINGHAM – City of Framingham Mayor Charlie Sisitsky is announcing his Community Center Advisory Committee today, January 24.
Mayor Sisitsky signed an executive order in November to create the 25-member Mayoral Framingham Community Center Advisory Committee. It is the largest Committee in the City’s history.
Dozens of individuals applied for the Committee. The Mayor deliberated for weeks over the applicants and had to make some tough choices, as there were more applicants than spots.
The Committee includes:
- City of Framingham Chief Operating Officer Michael Tusino
- City of Framingham Director of Facilities James Paolini
- City of Framingham Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Officer Jesse Edwards
- City Council Chair Phil Ottaviani Jr.
- A School Committee member to be named later, as they have yet to submit a nominee to the Mayor
- Library Trustee Isabella Petroni
- Framingham Disability Commissioner Sheryl Goldstein
- Framingham Youth Council member Noelle Anderson
- Framingham Parks & Recreation Commissioner Jose Ferreira
- Framingham High Athletic Director Paul Spear
- Hoops & Homework Director Kevin Lopez
- Boys & Girls Clubs of MetroWest Executive Director Chris Duane
- Framingham Police Sgt. Richard Pomales, with the Police Athletic League
- Framingham High Fine & Performing Arts Department Head Christopher Brindley, representing a theatre organization
- Performing Arts Center of MetroWest Director Michele Adams, representing an arts organization.
- Larry Simmons, representing a youth sports organization
- David Correia, the advocacy director for the MetroWest Center for Independent Living, representing a nonprofit organization.
- Damon Araujo, representing an athletic coach
- Brandon Liu, representing a high school athlete

The Mayor has yet to name a chair or vice chair. He will do that before he calls the first meeting in February.
In September, the City of Framingham used federal ARPA funds to purchase the former Marian High School property and its contents for $3.35 million from Invictus Forever Inc. The former high school has a 750-seat theatre, a gymnasium, cafeteria, and multiple meeting spaces. The City of Framingham is planning to redevelop the property for theatre, art, sports, and other intergenerational activities.
The Advisory Committee will report to the Mayor, who will provide goals and assignments to the Committee.
