In Massachusetts, public funding for the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences is provided through a central state agency - the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) - and through a network of Local Cultural Councils (LCCs) that serve every city and town in the state.
The LCCs award grants to support a broad range of cultural activities including field trips. The funds are awarded to a school, a town department, an organization, or an individual.
The Framingham LCC is responsible for making the final decisions on how to best serve the cultural needs of Framingham in selecting grant recipients and the amount of each grant.
Members of the Cultural Council
New members of the Framingham LCC are appointed by the Mayor for a term of 1, 2, or 3 years. Members may be re-appointed but cannot serve for more than 6 consecutive years. Meetings are held monthly on Wednesday evenings.
