Dog Registration Fees

All dogs six months of age and older must be licensed by the City Clerk. Dog licenses are valid for a calendar year, January 1 through December 31. Evidence of current rabies vaccination must be provided. The fee for dog registration is:

  • $15 without a certificate from a vet stating the dog is neutered/spayed
  • $10 with a certificate from a vet stating the dog is neutered/spayed
  • $5 fee for a duplicate tag

REGISTER YOUR DOG ONLINE

The Framingham City Clerk's Office has switched to an online permitting system.  To license your dog(s) for 2026, please click here.

1.  Select City Clerk. 
2.  Select Dog License. 
3.  Select Apply Online. 
4.  You will now be prompted to create an OpenGov account.  Please note that this is the account that you will use every year to renew your dog(s) license. 
5.  Once you have logged on, complete each step as required. 
6.  After you have submitted all of your dog's information, the City Clerk's Office will review your application. 
7.  Once approved, a notification will be sent to your email for payment. 
8.  Once payment is received, a 2026 dog tag will be mailed to the owner. 

Note:  You will be required to upload a copy of your dog's most recent vaccine, regardless of the vaccine's expiration date. 

If you would like the City Clerk's Office to register your dog(s), please return the 2026 renewal notice that was mailed to you in late December 2025 and provide your email address.  Your dog cannot be licensed for 2026 if there is no email address provided.
