Dr. Leslie Woods Milne

Dr. Leslie Woods Milne from Framingham is a former Olympic Athlete and currently an Emergency, Orthopedic, and Sports Medicine physician.

A member of the U.S. National Field Hockey Team from 1978 - 1984, she played an essential role in securing the bronze medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, California.

Leslie attended Williams College from 1975 - 1979, where she received her BA in both Biology and Psychology. While at Williams, she excelled in both basketball and field hockey. In the early 1980’s, while training for the U.S. Field Hockey team with friend, and teammate, Chris Larson Mason, she supported herself as a freelance photographer. She qualified for the 1980 Olympic team. However, the opportunity to compete was cut short due to the U.S. Olympic Committee’s boycott of the Moscow Games. As a consolation, but in recognition of her dedication, she was later awarded a Congressional Gold Medal, along with 460 other affected athletes.

Following her Olympic success, Leslie pursued a career in medicine. After earning her medical degree from the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University in 1989, she completed her residency and fellowship at UC San Diego. Leslie went on to specialize in Emergency Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, and Sports Medicine. Currently, she serves as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine, through the Harvard Medical School, while serving as a physician at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
