Maura Sticco-Ivins, a standout athlete from Framingham, made her mark early as a two-time Division 1 state diving champion at Framingham High School. A dedicated member of the Framingham Flyers swim team, she demonstrated both talent and determination, setting herself on a path to success.
Continuing her athletic and academic journey at Wellesley College, Maura achieved unprecedented success, becoming the school’s first national swimming and diving champion and earning dual All-American honors. In 2015, she was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Diver of the Year, set three school records, and earned the ECAC New England Division 3 Regional Diver of the Week title five times. In 2015, she was the NCAA Division III 3-meter diving champion.
In 2017 she was the Division III, 1-meter and 3-meter diving champion. Her outstanding performances culminated in her being named the 2017 Women's Diver of the Year by the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
Since graduating, Maura has pursued a career in biological sciences. Reflecting on her journey, she credits her high school coach, Michael Foley, for instilling in her a strong sense of teamwork and family. When asked if she ever feared the diving board, she responded, “Every day. Some dives are mentally challenging, and the only way to meet them is to simply keep diving.”
