Rep. Deborah D. Blumer

Deborah D. Blumer was a dedicated public servant and Democratic member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, representing the 6th Middlesex District from 2001 until her untimely death in 2006.

She graduated magna cum laude from Framingham State College and earned an MBA with distinction from Simmons College Graduate School of Management. Before entering politics, she held positions in various businesses, including Digital Equipment Corporation and Honeywell. 

Before serving in the State House, she served Framingham in a number of ways, from her time in Town Meeting and as a chair of the Finance Committee. She was one of the co-founders of the Danforth Museum and was an active member of a number of civic organizations, including the League of Women Voters. 

During her tenure in the Massachusetts House, Blumer served on several key committees: the Joint Committee on Higher Education, the Joint Committee on Children and Families, and the Joint Committee on Public Health. Her legislative focus reflected a commitment to education, family welfare, and public health.

The Deborah Blumer Community Health Leadership Award honors the legacy of the late State Representative, who played a pivotal role as the founding chair of the MetroWest Health Foundation's board of trustees. This prestigious accolade is bestowed upon individuals who have made significant contributions to community health initiatives, embodying the spirit of leadership and dedication that Blumer exemplified during her tenure.

Deborah's legacy is marked by her dedication to public service, her advocacy for education, public health, and civil rights, as well as her unwavering commitment to be a voice for those who most needed it across Framingham and beyond.
