If you no longer contribute to the Framingham Contributory Retirement System but still have funds on deposit, you are an inactive member.
If you have become employed by another municipality that requires membership in a Massachusetts contributory retirement system, don't hesitate to contact this office so we can transfer your funds from the Framingham Retirement System to your current One.
Withdrawals
If you have not become employed by another Massachusetts municipality, you may be entitled to withdraw your retirement deductions from the account. A withdrawal is payable to you as a lump sum or may be rolled over to an IRA or qualified retirement plan. Please note your account will only be credited with interest for the first 2 years immediately following your termination date. The Retirement Office can request the documents to withdraw or rollover your deductions.
If you leave your funds on deposit and later return to work for the City of Framingham or another municipality that requires membership in a Massachusetts contributory retirement system, your account will be credited with interest for all years. In addition, you will remain a member and be entitled to the employee contribution rate in effect when you were previously active.
