Animal Control

The Animal Control Department serves the citizens of Framingham as a division of Public Safety. More than 2,700 calls and complaints are fielded annually by this small department.

Two full-time and two part-time Animal Control Officers provide services to the City of Framingham seven days a week, 365 days a year. Furthermore, officers remain on-call after hours to respond to emergencies.

Regular Duties

Animal Control Officers:

  • Perform regular patrols, call responses, and administrative tasks
  • Enforce both state and local by-laws as they pertain to animals
  • Pursue court complaints when necessary in order to ensure compliance with the laws
  • Provide daily necessary care for animals held in the department’s custody

In addition to their regular duties, Animal Control Officers also act as Animal Inspectors.
