  • March 9, 2026 – Job descriptions posted on the City’s website.
  • March 16, 2026 – The application portal opens.
  • Interviews commence 
  • April 30, 2026 – Deadline to apply.
  • May 8, 2026 – Final notifications sent to accepted/rejected interns.
  • June 1, 2026 – Internship start date (Orientation)
  • August 6, 2026 – Internship Closing Ceremony.
  • August 7, 2026 – Last day of the internship.

Building a Diverse Talent Pipeline Through Summer Work Experiences

The Mayor’s Summer Internship Program (MSIP) is a ten-week paid internship experience for talented college students. This “pipeline” program is designed to allow enthusiastic undergraduates and recent graduates (one year removed) to explore potential administrative careers in a real-world municipal setting. This program is an exciting opportunity for individuals seeking to apply their skills in a team-based environment dedicated to addressing real issues facing the Framingham community every day.

The MSIP Program Design Offers Students a:

  • RATE of $17 per hour / 37.5 hours per week
  • 10-week paid summer internship program at City Hall offers students a summer experience with an administrative, project-based experience. 
  • A unique cohort model program that provides an opportunity for students to gain practical experience in local government settings and be guided and mentored by local government practitioners.
  •  Lunch & Learn sessions that focus on career development, branding, resume building, and managing time and expectations.
  • Lectures, networking luncheons, mentoring, hands-on work sessions, and resume and job search preparation.
  • Opportunity to discover their passions and interests and determine which career path is best for them.

MSIP Program Selection Criteria:

  • Must be a highly motivated college student leader
  • Must have an interest in working in local government 
  • Interview preference is given to Framingham residents, students currently enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program at Framingham State University or Mass Bay Community College.
  • Must have a strong interest in one of the programs offered
  • Must be a college student currently enrolled in a 2- or 4-year college program
  • Complete the online application, including a resume and a 200-word essay.
