City of Framingham To Hold Tree Lighting Ceremony & Holiday Block Party on December 1

FRAMINGHAM – City of Framingham will hold its 32nd Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, December 1.

The 32nd tree lighting will be a part of a holiday block party held on Union Avenue. The event features free hot cocoa and treats, music, a story walk, free books, and more.

There is a new time this year. The event will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m.

Back by popular demand this year, is the Framingham Girl Scouts holiday sing-along. The sing-along will take place near the Framingham Public Library’s Bookmobile around 5:30 p.m.

Stop by the Library’s outdoor green screen and take a holiday photo. The pictures will be available for digital download the next day for free.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive in grand style atop a Framingham Fire Engine before lighting the tree. Santa is not expected until after 6:15 p.m.

Attendees can snack on free popcorn, cookies, candy canes, and hot chocolate, select a free book, and enjoy holiday tunes provided by the Rousseau Family’s antique oil truck.

Union Avenue will be closed from Concord Street to Proctor Street starting at 4 p.m. Vehicles parked in that area will be subject to towing.

Parking is available at the Memorial Building, the main Framingham Public Library, Danforth Building, and the Pearl Street Garage. There will be handicap-accessible parking at the Memorial Building.

Everyone is welcome to attend and join in on the free festivities.
