The American Century: The American Labor Movement in the Industrial Age, Presented by Paolo Di Gregorio -- Offered by the Callahan Ctr. for ages 55+

Tuesday, August 30, 2022

For ages 55+ -- The American Century: The American Labor Movement in the Industrial Age -- Presented by Paolo Di Gregorio -- By the late 19th century, corporations and industrial interests dominated many aspects of American life, while the workers – men, women and children, who labored in the mills and mines – were largely powerless. Yet, despite corporate might, many laborers began to unite to fight for better pay and better working conditions, and helped lay the foundations for modern American society. Presenter Paolo Di Gregorio reflects on this pivotal time in history. Di Gregorio is an historian, archaeologist and educator. He is a visiting lecturer in the history dept. at Bridgewater State and an instructor in the anthropology and history departments at Wheaton College.

Call the Callahan Ctr. to register by 8/29: 508-532-5980 ext. 0. This program is supported in part by a grant from the Framingham Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency, and in part by the Friends of Callahan.
