FRAMINGHAM BOH BODYWORK REGULATIONBODYWORK APPLICATIONS | |
Depending on the practice (modality), a permit and/or license is required by either the Framingham Public Health Department (FPHD) or the Massachusetts Division of Occupational Licensure (DOL) - Board of Registration of Massage. In some circumstances, a permit/license is required from both the FPHD & DOL. Example: A business offers both Bodywork (acupressure) & massage.
If the modality to be performed is only BODYWORK related, a PERMIT is required from the Framingham Public Health Department. Bodywork includes but is not limited to Acupressure, Reflexology & Shiatsu. To operate and perform BODYWORK, both the Establishment AND the Therapist must obtain a PERMIT.
If the modality to be performed is only MASSAGE THERAPY, a LICENSE is required from the MA Division of Occupational Licensure (DOL) - Board of Registration of Massage (state agency). The Framingham Public Health Department does not regulate/enforce massage therapy. For information on MASSAGE THERAPY LICENSE, Click Here Version Options
