School Street Sidewalk Improvements

The existing sidewalk on School Street will be replaced from Old Connecticut Path to St. George's Church.

The work will take place during the daytime. A traffic management plan (TMP) for the work area will be implemented to ensure the safety of residents, traffic, and workers.

Grant funding

In July 2021, the Highway Division received a $200,000 Shared Streets and Spaces Grant from the Baker-Polito Administration to assist with sidewalk improvements on School Street.

The Shared Streets and Spaces Grant Program provides cities and towns with grants between $5,000 and $200,000 to support projects that promote public health, safe mobility, and renewed commerce by quickly providing new or repurposed space socially-distanced walking, bicycling, dining, retail, and bus travel.

Sidewalk and crosswalk work is now complete. Roadway improvements, including a mill and overlay of the existing pavement and new pavement markings, are planned for this year.

The City of Framingham Department of Public Works seeks to minimize any inconveniences to residents while roadwork improvements are taking place.

Please contact the Highway Division with any questions or concerns by email,, or by phone at 508-532-6030.
