The Department of Public Works will restore the roadway and sidewalks in the following locations:
Grant Street (between Arthur Street and Hartford Street)
This is the second of a two-phased project designed to mitigate motor vehicle accidents and enhance road safety for all users. In 2020, the first phase of this project was completed (between Clinton Street and Arthur Street).
This project is based upon recommendations from the 2018 Feasibility Study - Grant Street Neighborhood Complete Streets. Grant Street is an Environmental Justice area, and the improvements to the community include safer walking and biking networks and traffic calming at intersections.
Work includes drainage improvements, milling and overlaying the pavement, sidewalk restoration with ADA Improvements, and traffic calming intersection improvements.
The majority of the work will take place during the daytime. A traffic management plan (TMP) for the work area will be implemented to ensure the safety of residents, traffic, and workers.
Consultant—BETA Group, Inc. Contractor—Newport Construction
Work is scheduled to begin in Spring 2021.
