Sewer Pump Station Replacements Project
The Sewer Pump Station Replacements Project includes the replacement of four existing sewer pumping stations (Eastleigh, Hancock, Little Farm and Shawmut). These four sewer pump stations serve the residential homes in the areas of Angelica Drive, Ditullio Drive, Hancock Lane, Little Farms Road, Brigham Road and Shawmut Terrace.
Improvements
These improvements will result in the following benefits:
- Much needed upgrading of the aged pumps and infrastructure
- Elimination of out-dated ejector technology
- Provide greater efficiency and improve safety
- Reduction of maintenance.
The design will also include the standardization of the pump stations, which will provide greater enhancements to safety, serviceability, alarms and control, and availability of parts. Also, included in this project is an upgrade of various utilities and electrical services, as well as improvements for parking on Little Farms Road for visitors of the Carol Getchell Trail and boat launch.
September 2018
Eastleigh, Little Farms, and Hancock Pump Stations are all online. Electrical work at Shawmut Pump Station is underway, and crews are awaiting the completion of that work prior to putting the pump station online. Miscellaneous items, such as loam and seeding, as well as paving work, are planned for the rest of the season.
Project Status: On schedule with the originally anticipated completion date.
A neighborhood meeting was held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at the McAuliffe Branch Library at 746 Water Street at 7 p.m. Community memebers were notified, a press release to the media was sent, and notices were shared via social media.
