  2. Exhibit: An American Town in World War I

    April 25, 2018, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Why do many of us know so little about WWI? Perhaps because America entered the war during its last year? Or is it because few understood shell shock and how to process the horrors of the trenches? While WWII is known for the “greatest generation,” WWI produced the “lost generation.” But WWI is not lost to Framingham. As the centenary of Armistice approaches in November this exhibit features seven local men and women whose stories speak to the larger forces at play in the first war that engulfed the world. Innovations around flight and technology, the impact of the influenza pandemic, pacifism and suffrage are just some of the threads tying Framingham to WWI. 3. A Capella Vocal Class for Kids

    April 25, 2018, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM @ Performing Arts Center of Metrowest

“Voices Only” will introduce children to a cappella singing, incorporating rounds, improvisation, folk songs, and pop songs. Material will be chosen based on the capabilities of the group, to enable all to participate and enjoy. With an emphasis on experiential music-making over music theory, teaching may use a combination of oral tradition (learning by ear), lyric sheets, and sheet music. The last class will feature a “showcase” for invited friends/family, to demonstrate what we learned to do together.
