The five Team Framingham 2018 charities will be selected by random drawing on Monday December 4th as part of the event where the twenty-two team runners will be selected. The revised charity selection process was approved by the Board of Selectmen in September. Local charities had the opportunity to apply to be a coveted Team Framingham 2018 charity between September 20th and November 3rd.
The following eleven charities submitted applications by the November 3rd deadline. All applications complied with the requirements set forth by the Board of Selectmen:
Land Conservation and Advocacy Trust
United Way of Tri-County
Framingham History Center
Resiliency for Life
Framingham High School Foundation
Friends of Framingham Library
Hoops and Homework
Friends of Callahan Senior Center
Voices Against Violence
The Team Framingham program was established in 2014 and is comprised of 20-25 runners who participate in the Boston Marathon via invitational entries Framingham receives from the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.). The major goals of the Team Framingham program are:
Since 2014 team runners have raised close to $270,000 for deserving local charities and 88 of 91 team runners have successfully completed the demanding Boston Marathon course.
The application period for team runners opened on Monday October 2nd and will close promptly at 4 p.m. on Monday November 27th.

The random selection to choose the runners and charities is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Monday December 4th in the Ablondi Room at Town Hall. The drawing is open to the public.
