Metrowest Emergency Physicians Provides a $10,000 Gift to Benefit Framingham’s Aging Population

The Town of Framingham Parks and Recreation Department and the Council on Aging is pleased to announce that the Metrowest Emergency Physicians has provided a Ten Thousand Dollar ($10,000) gift to benefit the aging population in Framingham.

“We would like to thank Dr. Lisa Sotir, Chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine and member of the Metrowest Emergency Physicians for their generous gift to benefit the aging population in Framingham.  In addition, we would like to thank Selectman Jason Smith for collaborating with Dr. Sotir on behalf of the Town of Framingham to secure this gift” said James Snyder, Director of Parks and Recreation.

The gift from the Metrowest Emergency Physicians will allow the Council on Aging to offer two unique programs; a transportation program and an off-site exercise instruction program. The transportation program will provide transportation to and from appointments for residents 60 years and older, who require additional assistance; and needed support during medical appointments or procedures.  The off-site exercise instruction program will provide exercise instruction at one or more of the Framingham Housing Authority locations to improve the health and safety of Framingham residents.

In the past, the Metrowest Emergency Physicians have provided generous gifts to the Town of Framingham including assistive devices for people with Parkinson’s disease in 2016; and a Melanoma program that provided free public sunscreen dispensers and canopy tents in 2015.  The Parks and Recreation Department, as well as the Council on Aging are thankful for the continued support from Metrowest Emergency Medical Physicians in funding multiple support services and programs targeting the aging population of Framingham.
